We had a listener write in recently asking if we can discuss how to determine if our aircraft is airworthy, The recent crash in Daytona Beach, FL caused him to think more about determining if an airplane is airworthy from a legal and practical standpoint. He also wanted to know how to determine if the school, club, or FBO you rent from has airworthy airplanes. All good questions.

Have you ever watched a NASA rocket launch? Would you like to go behind the scenes, meet aeronautics scientists, and even an astronaut? Welcome to a special edition of the Stuck Mic AvCast. Victoria’s friend put a link on her Facebook page inviting her to apply for passes for a rocket launch. She applied and an acceptance letter arrived in her inbox.

Not knowing what she was getting herself into she accepted the invitation. Little did she know she would get a behind the scenes look at NASA Wallops Launch Facility,, make new friends, meet amazing scientists, and visit with an astronaut! Goodbye “/DME” Hello Equipment Requirements Notes

The FAA instrument approach charts are getting a minor makeover starting on May 24, 2018, with notes such as “DME Required” and “ADF or RADAR Required” moving to a new location on the chart. In addition, they are going to be more descriptive as to where and how the notes apply. Some notes will change on RNAV approaches as well, with new terms being used.
