Listener mail:

Hi Carl, I just listened to your show with the aviation attorney, Chris. Does he have a recommendation for the level of AOPA membership for good general legal coverage?

Answer from Christ Pezalla:

AOPA offers two levels of coverage, basic and plus. The plans are the same,
except that the plus level provides more hours of legal help in the event of
an accident or investigation. Both plans offer hotline support and both
plans will cover the majority of legal issues a pilot might encounter.

In addition to being a panel attorney for AOPA, I’m also an AOPA member and
I have the plus-level plan for myself. I went with plus-level because it
offers more hours of legal support and better support with medical issues.

That being said, both plans are excellent.
