SMAC187 Is Your Airport Aviation Friendly?

Is Your Airport Aviation Friendly? As many of you know we recently moved to Lakeland, Florida. The move has been a tremendous boost to our business and to this podcast. We really love being in Lakeland and close to the many aviation venues and events in Central Florida.

Since I am between airplanes I decided to try and find somewhere local where I can hang out, rent planes, join a flying club or simply hanger fly. The logical place to start is the airport with a runway only a 2 miles from my house. Walking out my front door, I looked skyward as the drone of an airplane became louder then flew by towards my destination for the day. This is when I got excited.

Memories danced through my head of my childhood local airport. Perched next to the runway, my fingers entwined in the chain linked fence, I looked in awe of at the flying machines. Similar to this day at the airport my fingers clenched the chain link fence, but in a disappointed and somewhat desperate grip. I had discovered I moved next to an airport that was not what I envisioned as a general aviation friendly airport.

Maybe I was expecting too much. Maybe I should have done more research. Maybe I needed to find a new friendlier Airport. But that led me to thinking about my dilemma and I thought I would ask our co hosts and you if I am being too tough on my local airport. Also what is a general aviation airport?

We’re Sorry!

Back on December 15th, 2012 there was a website update that corrupted our show. First it was our MP3 audio feed and we later found out it had wiped out our entire website theme and settings. Thus the boring display of white space currently visible on our webpages.

We appreciate your patience over the next week or two as we work to resolve the issues afflicting your experience here at StuckMicAvCast.com. Some progress has been made as the MP3 audio feed has been repaired, so all we need to do is fix the website theme and layout to reinstate your viewing pleasure.

Sorry for the minor inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Happy Holidays,

The StuckMicAvCast
