What would it be like if someone showed up on your doorstep with video of you crash landing an airplane 61 years ago? In Spitfire 944 that’s exactly what happened.

On September 12th, 1944, Lt. Col. John S. Blyth made an emergency, gear-up landing in his Spitfire at Mount Farm Airbase in Great Britain. Unbeknownst to him, airbase flight surgeon James Savage, aka “Doc”, happened to be out filming that morning and caught the entire event on tape.

In this short, yet intriguing documentary, relatives of airbase flight surgeon “Doc”, armed with videos in hand, visit Lt. Col. Blyth to ask him about his Spitfire missions some 60 years in the past. And then they show him the video of his Spitfire crash landing. Footage from 1944 which had never been seen before.
